The best vehicle wrap estimating software knows the vehicle: you pick the year, make and model, and the measured square footage, film, laminate, waste and labor price themselves into a quote the customer can approve online. Wraptor does that from 2,232 measured vehicles and labels where every number came from, so we rank it first for wrap, tint and PPF shops. GarageTool is the strongest standalone estimator, shopVOX and Ordant sell vehicle estimating as add-on modules on sign and print platforms, and QuoteIQ, Estimator360 and spreadsheets leave the measuring and the film math to you.
Disclosure: Wraptor makes Wraptor. We rank it first for the shops it was built for and say plainly who should pick something else.
The short version
- •Start from the vehicle, not a blank line item. If the software doesn't hold measured square footage by year, make, model and body configuration, you are still carrying the tape measure.
- •Wraptor ranks first for wrap, tint and PPF shops. 2,232 measured vehicles, film and labor priced from your own rates, Good/Better/Best options and a no-login approval link that creates the job, on flat plans from $99/month.
- •GarageTool is the rival that took measurement seriously. It estimates from 15,000+ vehicle templates, with thinner tools after the quote and per-employee pricing above its Solo tier.
- •shopVOX and Ordant fit sign and print shops. Vehicle estimating is a module there: the paid smartWrap add-on on shopVOX PRO, and an optional Vehicle Wrap module on Ordant.
- •QuoteIQ and Estimator360 don't model vehicles. One is a home-service CRM, the other is construction takeoff software.
- •Spreadsheets cost nothing and check nothing. You maintain the square-foot table, the formulas and the follow-up yourself.

The three questions that decide a wrap estimating tool
A wrap estimate is a chain: the vehicle's surface, the coverage, the film and laminate, the waste, the labor, and a document the customer agrees to. Most tools sold to wrap shops handle one or two links. Ask three questions of each.
- 1.Does it know the vehicle? Measured square footage by year, make, model and body configuration. A 130" low-roof van and a 148" extended high-roof van are different jobs, and a tool that only stores "Ford Transit" can price neither.
- 2.Does it do the film math? Square footage times your film and laminate rates, a visible waste allowance, and labor rows by the hour, square foot or panel, read from your rate card instead of retyped per quote.
- 3.Does the estimate become an approvable quote? A link the customer opens, a deposit they can see, a recorded approval, and a job that exists afterward without retyping.
How to set film rates and labor hours in the first place is covered in how to quote a vehicle wrap. This article is about which software carries that math for you.
Bottom line: a tool that answers yes to all three replaces the tape measure, the spreadsheet and the emailed PDF. A tool that answers yes to one is a calculator.

Wraptor: the estimate starts from the measured vehicle
Where the square footage comes from
You start a quote from Money → Quotes → New Quote: pick the customer, tap Wrap, pick the vehicle and press Start quote. Once your shop has a film on its rate card, a wrap quote opens on Estimate by area already priced: full-wrap coverage, the measured area, your default film and your standard labor rows.
The area comes from a bundled dataset of 2,232 measured vehicles, matched on year, make, model and the vehicle's Wheelbase line, which names the body configuration. When it matches, a green badge names the vehicle and the line under the number says where it came from ("620 sq ft — PVO measured"). When the configuration is ambiguous, say a Transit with only 148" on file, Measure asks Which configuration is this vehicle? instead of guessing. When the vehicle isn't in the dataset, Measure opens a measuring tool inline, and a measurement you save comes back on the next matching quote as Use your saved measurement. Type over the number and the line reads "typed, not measured", so when a job runs short on film you can see whether the area was measured or guessed.
The math, line by line
- •Material is square feet × (film $/sq ft + laminate $/sq ft). Tapping a film snapshots its rates onto the quote, so a later rate change never rewrites a quote you already priced.
- •Labor is quantity × rate for each of your own rows, priced Per hour, Flat fee, Per sq ft or Per panel. A row marked Hours come from the vehicle takes the measured install range, or a body-class estimate labeled "estimated from the body class, measure for accuracy".
- •Waste is your percentage of the film and laminate, shown as its own line ("Material waste allowance — 15%"), not buried in a markup.
A labor rate you never set prints as "default — set yours", so an industry average is never presented as your price. The running total comes from the same engine that writes the customer's lines, so your screen and their document can't disagree, and none of the working-out reaches the customer.
From estimate to approved quote
The estimate is already the quote. Add optional add-ons the customer ticks, or open Advanced and tap Add an option for up to three Good/Better/Best prices. Send quote emails a link, and the quote becomes SENT only once that email has gone out. The customer opens a no-login page, sees the deposit on the Approve Quote button and approves; approval creates the linked job, and if you take card payments and ask for a deposit, Wraptor can hand them the deposit invoice in the same moment. Tint and PPF price Per unit or at a Flat price in the same flow. The Wraptor quotes page has the overview.
Where Wraptor falls short
- •The measured library is smaller than GarageTool's template count. A vehicle outside it needs one measurement, which is saved for next time.
- •A quote covers one vehicle. There is no fleet quote builder; multi-vehicle work is a quantity on a per-unit line or a quote per vehicle, duplicated from the first.
- •The area estimator prices one film per option. A mixed-film job uses options or a hand-added line.
- •It's younger. Wraptor launched in 2025, has a smaller community than shopVOX, and its 7-day trial is shorter than some rivals offer.
Bottom line: if your work is wraps, tint and PPF and you want the estimate, the quote and the approval in one place, start here.
shopVOX with smartWrap: for sign shops that also wrap
shopVOX is a mature platform for sign, print and apparel shops, with estimating, custom workflows, job boards, proofing and invoicing. Vehicle-template measurement lives in smartWrap, a paid add-on to the PRO tier, so vehicle estimating costs the PRO subscription plus smartWrap plus any additional full users ($109/mo Express or $249/mo PRO; one full user included, additional full users $29/$49/mo). For a sign shop where wraps are secondary, that structure can make sense. For a wrap-first shop, compare the full cost of running the same order; Wraptor vs shopVOX goes feature by feature.
Bottom line: a sound choice when the business is signs; price the add-on into the comparison.
GarageTool: the rival that took vehicle measurement seriously
GarageTool is a wrap and sign shop tool built around 15,000+ vehicle templates for estimating, and for a shop whose main pain is quoting it deserves a look. It also has scheduling, invoicing, client proofing and approval, and deposits by card or through QuickBooks. It has no customer-facing job tracker, its wrap workflows and vehicle database are partial compared with a full platform, inventory is a materials database rather than roll footage, and every tier above Solo adds a per-employee charge ($100–$200/mo + $10/employee/mo). See Wraptor vs GarageTool.
Bottom line: the closest rival on the estimate itself; shops that pick it often keep a second tool for everything after the quote.
Ordant: a wrap module on an enterprise print platform
Ordant is cloud software for large print and graphics operations, with CRM, customer web portals and inventory with auto-replenishment. Vehicle wrap estimating with a make/model database is an optional Vehicle Wrap module, not the core workflow, and proofing is a print-proof approval module. At $295 – $995/mo (Enterprise: custom), it is priced as enterprise print software, above what most wrap shops spend, and setup takes real time.
Bottom line: a fit for a large-format print operation that also wraps.
Estimator360: square-foot estimating for construction
Estimator360 shows up in estimating searches and does square-foot estimating, but by blueprint takeoff for home builders, remodelers and lumberyards. It has no vehicle make/model templates, no wrap square-foot quoting, no customer proofing portal and no vinyl inventory. If you build houses, it was built for you; if you wrap vans, it wasn't.
QuoteIQ: estimates and e-sign, no vehicle data model
QuoteIQ is a home-service CRM that grew out of pressure washing and now serves 50+ trades, with estimates and e-sign, InstaQuote self-quoting, scheduling, invoicing and payments. It has no year/make/model, no panel square footage and no film-roll math, so every wrap estimate is a line you type. AI features are metered by IQ Credits, payouts carry a platform fee on top of processing whose rate isn't published, and seats are tiered ($29.99 – $699/mo). See Wraptor vs QuoteIQ.
Bottom line: reasonable for a one-truck home-service business, not an estimator for film.
Spreadsheets and free calculators
A spreadsheet is free and entirely yours, and it checks nothing. Every vehicle is a row you measured and maintain, formulas drift as tabs get copied, and the result is a number that still has to become a PDF, an email, a follow-up and a deposit somewhere else. Free calculators, including Wraptor's wrap calculator, give a fast ballpark but not a quote a customer can approve. Wraptor vs spreadsheets covers when moving off the sheet pays.
Bottom line: workable for a handful of wraps a year; the cost shows up around ten active jobs.
Who should pick something else
| If you are | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A sign or print shop that wraps a few vans a year | shopVOX | If fabrication and custom products drive the business, evaluate its configuration against that work and add smartWrap for vehicles |
| A shop whose only problem is quoting speed | GarageTool | If scheduling, invoicing and customer updates already work elsewhere, a strong estimator may be all you need |
| A large-format print operation with an enterprise budget | Ordant | The print workflow is the core and the wrap module is an add-on |
| A solo detailer adding PPF who never quotes from square footage | Urable, or QuoteIQ if you never touch film | Wraptor starts at $99/month; if you never price film by area, a cheaper detailing tool is the honest pick |
| A mechanical shop where wraps are under 20% of revenue | Shopmonkey or Tekmetric | You need a parts catalog and labor guide more than film math; price the occasional wrap with a free calculator |
| A shop that wants a longer trial | Tint Wiz, Urable or Sign OS | Wraptor's trial runs 7 days |
Test it on a vehicle you already quoted
The quickest way to judge an estimator is to re-price a vehicle you quoted last month and compare the two numbers line by line. Start a 7-day free trial, no card required, add one film and your labor rates under Quote Settings, and quote it. If you would rather see it with your own rate card first, book a demo.
FAQ
What is the best vehicle wrap estimating software? Software that starts from the measured vehicle, so the square footage, film, laminate, waste and labor price themselves into a quote the customer can approve. We make Wraptor and rank it first for wrap, tint and PPF shops; it quotes from 2,232 measured vehicles. GarageTool is a strong standalone estimator, and shopVOX and Ordant offer vehicle estimating as add-on modules for sign and print shops.
How does wrap estimating software get a vehicle's square footage? The better tools match the year, make, model and body configuration against a library of measured vehicles. Wraptor matches against 2,232 measured vehicles and labels the area as measured, saved by your shop, measured by hand or typed. A vehicle outside the library is measured once and offered back on the next matching quote.
Is GarageTool good for wrap estimates? Yes. GarageTool estimates from 15,000+ vehicle templates and suits shops that mainly want a faster estimator. It has scheduling, invoicing and client proofing, but no customer-facing job tracker, and it charges per employee above its Solo tier.
Does shopVOX do vehicle wrap estimating? Yes, through smartWrap, a paid add-on to the shopVOX PRO tier that provides vehicle-template measurements. When you compare costs, include the PRO tier, the smartWrap add-on and any additional full users.
Can I estimate vehicle wraps in a spreadsheet? You can, and many shops start that way. You maintain the square-foot table, the rates and the formulas yourself, and the result is a number rather than a quote the customer can approve online. Spreadsheets tend to break down around ten active jobs.
Do QuoteIQ or Estimator360 measure vehicles? No. QuoteIQ is a home-service CRM with estimates and e-sign but no year, make and model data, panel square footage or film-roll math. Estimator360 is construction estimating software built on blueprint takeoff, with no vehicle templates.
