The best PPF shop software in 2026, ranked honestly

Nine paint-protection-film shop tools ranked on kit and coverage packages, film-roll tracking, warranty records, and inspections, with real 2026 prices and doors and who should not pick Wraptor.

By Sal Lara, Founder, Wraptor · Published September 10, 2026 · Vendor price-check dates shown below

Disclosure: Wraptor makes Wraptor. We rank ourselves first for the shops we were built for and say plainly who should pick something else.

Paint protection film is the highest-ticket, highest-liability job in the vehicle-protection trades: a full-body install runs $5,000–$8,000 in a ticket and a ten-year film warranty in a drawer. The software that fits it has to sell coverage packages a customer can picture, track a $1,200 roll by the foot, record the condition of the paint before the first squeegee, and find the warranty in five seconds when a rock strike comes back. Most of the tools pitched to PPF shops do one of those.

This page ranks nine tools on those four things. One is ours. One — Urable — is the honest budget pick for a detailer adding PPF, and we say so. The mechanical-repair systems and home-service CRMs are here because a PPF shop gets pitched them weekly, with what each actually does with a front-end kit. Prices and doors were checked September 9, 2026.

One more thing the table cannot show: a PPF shop's software problem compounds slowly. The first year it is a quoting problem — every full-body estimate is twenty minutes with a tape measure and a film calculator. The third year it is a warranty problem — a customer returns with lifting edges and the install record is a text thread, a photo on someone's phone and a roll whose lot number nobody wrote down. The tools below are ranked on how much of that they prevent, not on how nice the calendar looks.

The yardstick

What a PPF shop actually needs from software

Coverage packages the customer can approve

Partial front, full front, track package, full body; with or without a ceramic top coat. A PPF quote is a coverage decision priced from the vehicle's measured panels, presented as Good/Better/Best and approved on one link with a deposit.

Film tracked by the foot

A roll of premium PPF costs more than a month of any tool on this list. Roll footage with per-job deductions, waste tracked, and a low-stock alert before the Friday full-body finds a short roll.

A condition report before the install

Rock chips, swirls, paint depth, prior repairs — photographed and signed before the film goes on, so a dispute a year later is a document, not a memory. Mechanical-repair tools call this a DVI and do it well; the home-service CRMs do not have it.

Warranty certificates tied to the vehicle

Ten-year film warranties are a real liability. Generate the certificate at close, attach the film brand and lot, and find it from the VIN when the customer calls.

A vehicle data model

Year, make, model, and the measured panels behind them. Wraptor quotes from 2,232 measured vehicles; Urable's 3D Visualizer previews film on 15,000+ stock models; nothing else on this list knows what a hood is.

Room for tint and wraps

PPF shops add tint because the customer is in the bay and add wraps because the plotter is already there. The tool should not become the ceiling.

Tool by tool

#1

Wraptor

$99 – $299/mo flat, no per-seat fees · Open pricing, a 7-day no-card trial, optional demo

Wraptor sells PPF the way a customer buys it: pick the vehicle and the coverage — partial front, full front, track, full body — and the package prices from the measured panels of 2,232 vehicles and your own film and labor Standards. Good/Better/Best goes out on one link; approval takes the deposit and opens the job. A digital vehicle inspection records the paint before the install, film is tracked by roll and foot with per-job deductions, and warranty records and certificates stay tied to the vehicle.

The customer tracker page shows the job's stage without a phone call, fleet accounts run a parent job with a child per vehicle, and because the same platform quotes tint per window and wraps from square footage, adding either service adds no tool. Inbound leads from the FindAWrap directory route to member shops with no per-lead fee.

Wraptor Starter is $99/mo, Wraptor Shop $199/mo with unlimited seats, Wraptor Fleet $299/mo. Start the 7-day no-card trial by choosing a plan; a demo is optional.

What we do not have: a 3D film visualizer on the customer's own model (Urable does), a pattern-cutting library (that is plotter software — PPF Engine is pre-selling one), and a 30-day no-card trial.

Keep each department's stages on its own board and review them together on the combined jobs view. One customer job owns the work and billing. Schedule installs before the installation stage, switch between install and due dates, and use bays only if your shop has them. Today brings owners, next actions, blockers, follow-ups, and changes needing review to the floor manager. Staff review appointment-message drafts before sending; mobile photo selection keeps reference and inspection images with the job.

Best for: PPF shops that also tint or wrap, and dedicated PPF shops with a print room

#2

Urable

$70 – $183/mo · Self-serve trial, then a post-signup demo

Urable earns its number two honestly. The 3D Visualizer shows the customer's own model with the film brand's actual product on it, which closes PPF upsells the way nothing else on this list does; booking with deposits, photo and video inspections, Affirm and AfterPay financing, and route optimization round out a detailing-first tool that has become a real PPF sales tool. Fullsteam bought it in 2025; Express is $70, Pro $110, Enterprise $183, unlimited users on every tier.

Where it stops: no quoting from measured square footage, inventory is product counts rather than film rolls, there is no proofing flow for uploaded artwork, and wrap production is minimal. A dedicated PPF shop with a print room and a wrap bay will outgrow it; a detailer adding PPF should probably start here.

Best for: Detailing shops adding PPF, and mobile PPF crews

#3

Shopmanager

$200 – $500/mo · Self-serve trial

Shopmanager is aimed squarely at PPF and tint shops and does the basics — appointments, package pricing, customer records — in a modern, uncluttered interface.

It is a small tool: no proofing, no kanban with stages, no AI, no roll-level inventory, no fleet accounts. Shops that want a calendar with packages will be happy; shops that want an operating system will not.

Best for: PPF and tint shops with simple workflows

#4

Tint Wiz

$150/mo · 30-day trial, no card, self-serve

Tint Wiz supports PPF as a first-class service beside tint, with lead capture, Good/Better/Best quotes, scheduling, review requests, follow-ups, and roll-level inventory, plus dealer-platform ties with Solar Gard and Hüper Optik. $150/mo flat with unlimited users and a 30-day no-card trial.

Wrap production stages, artwork proofing, a customer-facing tracker, digital vehicle inspections, and AI are all absent. For a tint shop that installs PPF it is a close second to Wraptor; for a PPF shop that also wraps it is not.

Best for: Tint shops that also install PPF

#5

Shopmonkey

$239 – $499/mo + $20/user · 20-minute demo only, no trial

Shopmonkey's digital vehicle inspections are as good as any in the industry, and for a mechanical shop that added a PPF bay the repair-order backbone is the right one.

It has no coverage-package model, no film inventory by the foot, no warranty certificates, and no measured panels. It is demo-only (the site still advertises a trial that does not exist), and Trustpilot reviewers cite a steep price increase after signing.

Best for: Mechanical shops with a PPF bay

#6

Tekmetric

$199 – $439/mo, unlimited users · Demo + self-guided tour, no trial

Tekmetric's unlimited-user pricing, digital inspections, and estimate approvals make it the repair shop's value pick, with a self-guided tour and a demo as the door.

There is no trial, the marketing suite is a $345/mo add-on, and the product has no coverage packages, no film inventory, and no warranty flow.

Best for: Independent repair shops

#7

QuoteIQ

$29.99 – $699/mo · 14-day trial, self-serve

QuoteIQ's only automotive industry page is mobile detailing; it has no PPF, tint, or wrap page and no vehicle data model. Its "top 8" listicles for ceramic coating and detailing rank it first.

For a solo mobile detailer it is cheap and capable. For a PPF shop there are no coverage packages, no measured panels, no film-by-the-foot, no warranty certificates, AI is metered by IQ Credits, payouts carry an unpublished platform fee, and five logins cost $299/mo.

Best for: Solo operators across home-service trades

#8

Jobber

$49 – $499/mo + $29/user · 14-day trial on Grow, no card, self-serve

Jobber's scheduling, dispatch, client hub, and payments are the best in field service, and a mobile PPF crew that quotes on site can live on it.

It has no vehicle model, no coverage packages, no material inventory, no inspections, and no warranty records, and every extra user is $29/mo.

Best for: Mobile crews

#9

Housecall Pro

$79/mo (1 user) – $329/mo (8 users) · 14-day trial, no card, self-serve

A capable home-service CRM with a friendly door (14-day no-card trial, 30-day money-back) and a marketing suite.

One user on Basic with $75–100/mo per extra seat, no vehicle model, no film tracking, no inspections, no warranty flow, and reports of persistent outbound sales calls after signup.

Best for: Home-service companies

The honest part

Who should not pick Wraptor

A detailer adding PPF as a second service

Pick: Urable

$70/mo with unlimited users, booking with deposits, and a 3D Visualizer that sells the upgrade on the customer's own car. Start there; move when you add a print room.

A shop that needs a pattern-cutting library

Pick: Your plotter software (or watch PPF Engine)

Wraptor runs the business, not the plotter. Pattern libraries live in DAP-style cutting software; PPF Engine is pre-selling one at $900/yr.

A mechanical shop with a PPF bay in the corner

Pick: Shopmonkey or Tekmetric

The repair order is your center of gravity. Quote PPF with our free wrap calculator until the bay earns its own tool.

How we ranked

  • Every price and door on this page was checked against the vendor's own pricing page on September 9, 2026, and each rival's row reads from the same data as its /compare page — so a correction there corrects this page too. Where a vendor publishes no price (Workiz) we say so instead of guessing.
  • We ranked on one question: how much of the wrap, tint, or PPF workflow does the tool actually model? A vehicle database, panel square footage, film math, proofing, packages, and a customer-facing tracker score; a parts catalog or a dispatch map does not, however good it is for the trade it was built for.
  • We did not weight app-store ratings, YouTube subscriber counts, or paid press releases. We did read the one-star reviews for every tool, ours included.

Disclosure: Wraptor makes Wraptor. We rank ourselves first for the shops we were built for and say plainly who should pick something else.

Frequently asked questions

What software do PPF installers use?

Two layers: cutting software for patterns (DAP-style plotter software, with PPF Engine pre-selling a new one) and shop software for the business. On the shop side, Urable is common among detailers who added PPF, Tint Wiz among tint shops that did, and Wraptor is the platform built to quote PPF by coverage from measured panels alongside tint and wraps.

Is Urable good for PPF shops?

Yes, for a detailing shop adding PPF or a mobile crew: the 3D Visualizer, booking with deposits, inspections, and financing are strong and it is $70–183/mo with unlimited users. It does not quote from measured square footage, track film by the foot, proof artwork, or run wrap production, so a dedicated PPF shop with a print room tends to outgrow it.

How much does PPF shop software cost?

$70–$183/mo for Urable, $150/mo flat for Tint Wiz, $99–$299/mo flat for Wraptor, and $199–$499/mo plus per-seat fees for the mechanical-repair systems. Per-seat home-service CRMs start at $30–$79 and add $29–$100 per extra user.

Is there free PPF shop software?

Not really, and the free tiers that existed in 2025 are mostly gone: QuoteIQ retired its free plan, Workiz pulled its Lite plan in July 2026, and Wraptor retired its Free tier in September 2026. What you can get is a no-card trial (Jobber, Housecall Pro, Tint Wiz, Urable, Sign OS) or, at Wraptor, a 7-day no-card trial with an optional demo. Spreadsheets are free and stop working around ten active jobs.

Does Wraptor lock me in?

No. Every plan has a one-click export of all your data as a ZIP (customers, vehicles, jobs, quotes, invoices, files), a one-click cancel in Billing that ends the plan at the period end, and an import hub that brings data in from any CSV or from another tool's export.

Can a mixed-service shop track print and sign orders too?

Yes. Print & signs has a reusable product catalog with quantity breaks and finishing options, production tickets from approved specs, optional inventory-linked material costs, and reorders that recheck current catalog rates. Separate department boards keep signs, wraps, and PPF organized without duplicating customer jobs or billing.
