What markup do sign shops use?

Standard sign shop markups run 100-250% over cost, meaning a price of about 2x to 3.5x what the job costs to produce, with many shops defaulting to around 2.5x. Cost includes materials plus a 10-20% waste allowance, ink, lamination, cutting, finishing, design, and machine time. The markup result is a floor; most shops quote the local market rate whenever it clears that floor.
